The 2011 Ford Explorer will be an all-new completely redesigned vehicle featuring a unibody construction utilizing a front-wheel drive system or an intelligent four-wheel drive system with terrain management. The new 2011 Explorer will sport the look of a crossover SUV featuring more fuel efficient engines including a 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 and a 3.5-liter V-6 utilizing Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (Ti-VCT).
Three models will be offered for the 2011 Explorer,a base, XLT and Limited. The all-new explorer will offer best-in-class fuel economy from its high-tech powertrains. The 3.5-liter V-6 improves 20 percent from the previous model year which equates to 17 city and 20 MPG highway miles. The new 2.0-liter EcoBoost will improve fuel economy even more for the Explorer with more a more than 30 percent increase.
